OsteoMed Launches Extremilock Ankle Plating System

System received FDA clearance late last year.

Addison, Texas-based OsteoMed LLC, a medical device company specializing in small bone implants and biologics has launched the Extremilock ankle plating system. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared the system in November last year.

Extremilock is a comprehensive ankle fracture system intended to provide solutions for simple to complex fractures of the distal tibia and fibula. The system features double-lead screw technology in locking, non-locking and cannulated screw options. All system components are contained in a single-instrument tray, which houses six different fracture plating options, seven different screw fixation options, and comprehensive, color-coded instrumentation to facilitate ease of use.

“The Extremilock ankle plating system represents a significant and exciting addition to the small bone orthopedic product portfolio,” said Dave Kelly, vice president of small bone orthopedics for OsteoMed. “This new system not only provides surgeons with an array of innovative ankle fracture solutions, but also further enhances our ability to compete in the small bone orthopedic, lower extremity market. The Extremilock ankle plating system represents one of many product launches scheduled for 2014 with a strategic focus on the foot and ankle community.”

OsteoMed makes devices for the small bone orthopedics, craniomaxillofacial, neuro, and spine surgical specialties.
